In the unifying spirit of the Beijing Olympics, Nike wanted to create a historic event that would bring the entire world together, inspiring its active virtual Nike+ community as well as inviting new runners to the sport. The Nike+ Human Race was the largest one-day running event in history on August 31, 2008. Runners around the globe came together, both physically and virtually, to challenge and inspire each other and raise thousands of dollars for charity. In the end, we brought 800,000 from 142 countries to compete for the first time ever.
