Nike+ Human Race
The Nike+ Human Race was an integrated event and campaign for the largest race in the history of the world on August 31, 2008. The Nike Plus site allowed runners to join the race in 26 physical race cities worldwide or run anywhere by syncing their run digitally with Nike Plus. We built a global web site community complete with runner profiles, training challenges, ability to join teams, training tips, exclusive music downloads and training music mixes, and localized blogs for each race city. Web videos featured athletes and celebrities like Kanye West, Lance Armstrong, Serena Williams and The All American Rejects talking trash and encouraging people to join the race. A YouTube brand channel, banner ads and preroll video on sites like espn.com, and social networking media with Facebook helped extend the campaign's reach. In the end, we brought 800,000 runners together physically and virtually in the same global race for the first time ever.
